The Continental was Edsel Ford's flagship model for the Ford Motor Company and proved to be such a timeless design that it would remain unchanged even through the postwar years. its impact on the automotive world can still be felt today; Edsel's insistence on a rear mounted spare spawned the phrase "Continental Kit". Power was provided by a smooth running V12 engine that would rival luxury models from the "three P's", the Continental was one of the first automotive designs to be recognized by the New York Museum of Modern Art as more than just a machine. This example is complete with side skirts and a plethora of period optional equipment.
