The 4.1 L HT4100 was an in-house design that mated cast iron heads to an aluminum block. In 1984, Cadillac also introduced a convertible version of Eldorado Biarritz. It was 200 pounds heavier, featuring the same interior as other Biarritz versions. Only 3,300 Eldorado Convertibles were produced for the 1984 model year.
