“Corvette ’68… all different all over”. That’s the quote from the sales brochure for the redesigned 1968 Corvette. The body was completely redesigned. The chassis itself did not change much from the 1967 model. The new hidden wipers and hidden headlights are vacuum operated instead of electrical. Door openers now use a push button to open and a push in handle to pull the door, this was only used on the 1968 model. The new standard automatic was the 3 speed Turbo. A new fiber-optic monitoring system was added to the dash and “Astro-Ventilation” was added to improve the airflow in the cabin. The ’68 Vette did not have the “Sting Ray” badging on it anywhere, it would return in ’69 as “Stingray”.
Equipped with the number matching 390 horsepower 427 engine, 4 speed transmission, tilt wheel, am/fm radio, and factory rally wheels, this is a nice car that drives great.
